Girl's Old Navy Spring: Navy and Orange

Good morning!!!

While I was checking emails this morning, I ran across a great sale at Old Navy that I wanted to share. I'm hoping to do more fashion-related posts because honestly, shopping is a passion of mine. Saving money while doing that is even better ;) You really should never pay full price at Old Navy because they offer great discounts on a regular basis. Most of the items are trendy, and not staple pieces you will own for many years, with some exceptions. And for children's clothes, you just can't beat the prices during their sales. Here is what I'm putting in my cart for E. today at 40% off!!! Well, maybe not all of it..... ;)

Christmas in Charleston: A Home tour

Hello and happy holiday season! I am linking today with a huge holiday home tour link party courtesy of a great blog that I follow, Life on Virginia Street. Our house is perpetually undergoing some sort of work, but I thought I would share my holiday decor. I love these link parties because you can find lots of great tours in one spot. Perfect for a winter evening's entertainment in front of the fire with a cup of cocoa!

We'll start at our front door. I threw together a simple pine cone swag for the door this morning because the larger one I had done made it difficult to open and shut the front door. It really took on a life of its own.....

See, its huge!

This simple bowl of glass ornaments makes me happy in its simplicity!!

Come on in to the dining room.....

I love this antique sideboard. Its my favorite piece from my Dad's farm.

Our formal and casual living spaces are adjacent to each other, which makes it hard to figure out how to decorate. But it allows a straight open view to the back of the house and the marsh beyond.

In the kitchen, we have a hot cocoa station set up on the wet bar for the kids and tea and coffee for the

I love this plate that my friend Tonia gave me years ago. Every Christmas it gets a red ribbon for the season. I also love Christmas cacti because they are so easy to grow!!

I ventured into Martha Stewart land and made a couple snow globes....there are little battery-powered lights buried in the snow that come on at night.

Here is our big ole tree that took forever to decorate! We could still use more ornaments!

The mantle

We all seem to hang out more in the family room over the holidays. The fire, the lights of the tree, the proximity of hot cocoa.....its just the perfect place to spend the holiday!!

Thanks for visiting. I would love to see your home tour or photos in the comments below!

Merry Christmas!!

Thanksgiving In Charleston: What's Up Wednesday

Hello friends! Today, I'm trying something new......I'm linking to a bunch of other bloggers for "What's Up Wednesday!" I think it will be fun to share the latest happenings here and hopefully get some comments about what's going on in your world! Here we go!

What We're Eating This Week:
Well, turkey for sure. Unless Chris has an unfortunate accident in the kitchen. Also, we've had steak and turkey tacos for dinner this week.  I'm betting that on Friday after all of the rich comfort Thanksgiving foods, we will be dying for our favorite Mexican restaurant,  Zia Taqueria! The tortilla soup is out of this world!

What I'm Reminiscing About:
This will be our first year without Jack, my stepdad. He always made the holidays special.

What I'm Loving:
There are a bunch of things on my list right now....I'm thinking of doing a favorites post to share them, so stay tuned. Really, it is the simple things that make my life easier, like certain products, the ability to Christmas Shop from the comfort of my couch,  J Crew Factory Flannel Pajamas to keep me warm, and Black Friday Sales that spill over into Cyber Monday!

What I'm Working On:
I worked on catching up the laundry Monday and Tuesday of this week after the soccer-palooza that went on last weekend. Glamorous, I know. The rest of the week will be spent getting the Christmas boxes out of the attic, picking out a tree, hitting the Black Friday sales, and studying more blogging and photography tutorials.

What I'm Listening To:
Christmas music on Sirius Holly, and the Robert Downey Jr,  Michael Buble, and Harry Connick Jr. stations on Pandora.

What I'm Wearing:
Khakis. Seriously........jeans, a flannel shirt and vest with boots.

What I'm Looking Forward To:
Shopping, Decorating and all of the Holiday Events that Charleston has to offer such as:
The Charleston Holiday Farmer's Market
The King Street Holiday Shop and Stroll
20th Annual Christmas Light Parade & Tree Lighting

What I'm Watching:
Not Football. Sorry, guys! Planning to take the kids to see Love The Coopers over the weekend. Love family movie time!!!

So basically, that sums it up. I'd love to know some of your traditions, the things that make the holidays special, the things that make it easier for you and any tips on getting it all done in time to actually enjoy the spirit of the season!

Have a blessed thanksgiving and thank you for reading!!!
